Checking the activation status
- Open Settings. Open Settings via the Start menu.
- System, then Activation. In the System section, select the Activation item.
- Read the status. If it says Windows is activated, the licence is correctly applied.
- Details via command. For more details: open Command Prompt as an administrator and enter slmgr /xpr. This shows whether the activation is permanent.
What the display means
Windows is activated means that Microsoft's servers have accepted the licence. The command slmgr /dlv shows additional details such as the licence type and the partial key. A genuine licence is listed there as correctly licensed.
If a warning appears such as Windows is not activated or an error code, the licence has not yet been applied or there was a problem. Common causes are a hardware change or an aborted activation. Our support helps free of charge in clarifying the matter.
