The Project versions compared
Microsoft Project is available as a perpetual licence in four versions, from 2016 to 2024. In terms of features they are very close to one another – the deciding factor is almost always the support period. We carry all four as the Professional edition.

Which Project version you should buy
- Project 2024. The current version with security updates until October 2029 – the right choice if you are planning for the long term.
- Project 2021. Still supported until October 2026 and usually cheaper – a sensible option if your budget is tighter and your planning horizon is shorter.
- Project 2019 and 2016. Without security updates since October 2025. Only worthwhile if you specifically need an older version and can do without updates.
- Range of features. The differences between the versions are small – schedules, tasks, Gantt charts and resource management are included throughout. The deciding factors are the support period and the price.
