How multi-seat licensing works
Office perpetual licences are licensed per workstation. A multi-seat setup therefore consists of several individual licences, one per device. Anyone wanting to equip ten workstations buys ten licences. The volume discount ensures that the price per licence falls as the quantity rises.
Important when distributing them: a licence is tied to a device, not to a person. In environments where several employees share a device, for example in shift work, the device is what counts. For personal workstations, one device corresponds to one person.
What to consider when buying multiple seats
- Determine the quantity. Count the number of Office devices; this gives you the number of licences required.
- Split up the editions. Not every workstation needs the same edition. A differentiated order often saves money.
- Take advantage of the volume discount. From 2 licences per order, the tiered discount applies.
- Receive the licences bundled together. The keys arrive bundled by email, with a VAT invoice as proof of purchase.
